Expo Suzhou Pavilion
Walked into the Expo site in Puxi Area E, approached Suzhou Pavilion, the immediate presentation was a exquisite southern ancient city. Stone bridge, garden, ancient well, bamboo …… fully showed the charm of Suzhou Watertown. The most impressive thing of Suzhou Pavilion was the Chinese ink painting on the huge two-story facade. The mural was based on the painting created by the well-known landscape painter in Suzhou – Liu Maoshan. Those views with appropriate distance were respectively drawn by means of three processes – jet-drawing, painting, hand-painting. It’s said that in order to one-time success, each action was very careful. It took two weeks to complete the whole mural, and it became the unique huge Chinese ink painting. Visitors followed the slope of the old bridge, slowly walked towards the entrance of Suzhou Pavilion. On the slope, many tourists enjoyed the ink painting on the side, or were busy taking photos.
Entered Suzhou Pavilion along the slope, reached the core area of the hall. Here using upper and lower thermocline of the wall inside the exhibition hall, setting up a large
projector, which is the Suzhou Pavilion’s “main event”. The large projection, inosculated high-tech sound, light, electricity and Suzhou human element in one picture, giving
people a sense of shock. On top of pavilion, set a massive number of lights, audio equipment which were aiding in film. The projection was playing Suzhou Expo official movie shot by the director Ning Hao. Visitors were standing on the corridor, savor the unique flavor of Suzhou brought by the film. It was a sense of shock brought by the integration of a
distant Suzhou culture and modern city, so that visitors had a more profound understanding to the city.
After watching the video, visitors walked along the corridor, enjoying the Suzhou Embroidery works displayed on the surface of the wall on another side. “Too exquisite, too real,
and really don’t know how the embroidery were made!” Visitors were deeply impressed by the intricate workmanship of Suzhou Embroidery. Came to the end, reaching a small “Suzhou family”. Here, the flower windows, carved beams, painting buildings, black bricks, each detail followed the old method came down from thousands ago, refusing to use a nail or a rivet, and wholly used tenons. Look, the Suzhou Embroidery performance and carveing show, the Suzhou woman wearing cheong-sam at the table was embroidering a delicate embroidery with each stitch. On the other side, also a woman, was sculpting a woodcarving. Many tourists were watching the “miracle” created by Suzhou women’s hands with interest.
In addition, Suzhou Pavilion also displayed a miniature version of the Humble Administrator’s Garden; an electronic version of the “Suzhou Flourish Scene” hanging on the wall; a
lifelike electronic background screen playing Suzhou’s 3D API, these let the visitors not only taste Suzhou cultural in this charismatic building, but also realize that Suzhou
city as a modern metropolis brought its contemporary style.
